The Minimalism Challenge – Week 2

Week 1 of the minimalism challenge was just a warm up. We started small, made lots of simple decisions, and built some momentum. This week we’ll really get the ball rolling.

(I would recommend going back to week 1 if you haven’t seen it yet before jumping into week 2.)

Practically we’ll be doing our bedrooms, phones, and desks. For the mindset portion though, we’ll be digging into the word “need.”¬†What do you need? Define the word. Do you need food to eat? Yes! Do you need a place to lay your head? Yes! Do you need another pair of black booties? Well …

We finally get to our clothing this week. Consider trying a capsule wardrobe for a month (read my articles on my capsule wardrobe here and here). Just give it a whirl. If you hate it you can always go back. If you know this is not for you, still go through your clothing and pass along the items that you don’t love. Hold something up and ask these questions:

Questions for a Minimalist Wardrobe

  1. Do I love this item?
  2. Did I wear this item the last time this season rolled around?
  3. Do I feel beautiful in this item?
  4. If I could buy this item again for just $5, would I?

Thanks for this! I’ve been enjoying following your blog for a little while (came across it when someone posted about your little ones asking for prayer on Facebook…but I can’t remember who!)

I have been thinking about minimalism lately when it comes to my wardrobe and the “does this make me feel beautiful” question is one I am using a lot! I’m pretty practical but sometimes sentimental (strange combo haha), so I will have thoughts like, “This is a really nice sweater. I should keep it…or should want to keep it…but I don’t really like the way I look in it.” So now I’m getting rid of those things!

Thanks for all the great posts!

Awesome! That has honestly been one of my favorite questions too!
