ABOUT US

I was once standing in a line carrying on a conversation with a lady quite a few years my senior. Out of the blue she looked me up and down and then said, “You’re young” in a very matter of fact tone. I awkwardly smiled, but don’t offer up my age. She then asked, “How old are you?” “22 …” “Yeah, you’re young.” Um, ok.

Another time I was mid-sentence with a new acquaintance when she blurted out, “Wait! How old are you?”

I get this question ALL the time. It comes when people find out how old our daughter is, that we’ve been married three years, or how many places we’ve been.

I’m still looking for a good answer to that awkwardly-put question. What I’m no longer finding are those feelings of embarrassment. Why did I spend 3 years ashamed of being young? Nate and I met at 16. We married at 19. We became parents at 21. And yes, we’re still young.

Youth is a gift and something that I intend to be extremely grateful for and use wisely. I always felt like I needed to somehow explain myself. Not anymore.

After that long intro, welcome to our blog! Thanks for joining us here and being a part of our life journey.

Our mission is to inspire other families to seize the time that they have with their kids/spouse and enjoy exploring the world. After inspiring you (hopefully!) our goal is to help you actually DO IT by giving tips, tricks, and how-to’s.

We didn’t start writing because we think we have it all down. You will read more about our mistakes than about our getting it right on the first try. We wanted to share our pictures with family and friends and maybe help a few folks out there on traveling as a family on a tight budget.
